Description:<\/strong> The best way to learn about student thinking is to ask the students \u2014 but what comes next? Clinical interviews and formative assessments can reveal rich insights into how students reason mathematically, yet it can be challenging to know how to act on what we learn. In this session we will explore how the data we gather from students can inform responsive instruction \u2014 where we make classroom decisions that build on students\u2019 strengths, address their needs, and create meaningful mathematical learning experiences for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jenna Laib<\/strong> is a math specialist in Brookline, Massachusetts. She began her career as an upper elementary classroom teacher and later became a grade 6 math teacher, a K\u20138 math coach, and an educational consultant working with districts, universities, education nonprofits, publishers, and museums. Jenna has had the pleasure of speaking at educational conferences across North America. She is grateful to have wonderful colleagues \u2014 at her school and in the larger education community \u2014 who share in the pursuit of dynamic and equitable learning environments.<\/p>\n\n\n
