Interweaving Equitable Participation and Deep Mathematics: Building Community in the Elementary Classroom focuses on a dual commitment: to teaching deep and challenging mathematics and to equitable participation for all students in the classroom community. With practical strategies and real-life examples, Susan Jo Russell and Deborah Schifter offer a design for building community organized around four key aspects: every voice matters; collaboration supports student agency; student-created representations offer anchors, openings, and depth; and students become initiators and advocates for their own learning. Each chapter examines how teachers implement these ideas through video examples from six public elementary-school classrooms.
We are deeply saddened to share the news that Dr. Janice Ellen Jackson, trustee of AV巴士, passed away on March 3, 2025. Janice was one of our longest-serving and most dedicated advocates, and her contributions to AV巴士 and the broader educational community have been invaluable.
Christine Reich, PhD will join AV巴士 as its president on July 1, 2025. A distinguished educator, social science researcher, and former museum executive, Reich brings a deep commitment to advancing STEM education opportunities for all learners.

In June 2025, Nuria Jaumot-Pascual, Maria Ong, and Tiffany Smith presented the paper ECR: Core. Identity Intersections of Indigenous Engineers and Computer Scientists at 2025 ASEE Annual Conference & Exposition, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. They explore how the identities of Indigenous computer scientists and engineers intersect with their cultural values around their motivations to be in these disciplines and around how they approach their work.
